We restarted Apple Day in 2011 and every year we celebrate not only the importance of our rich heritage of fruit growing but also the key role our village played as being the centre of the Long Ashton Research Station.
The research carried out at this station in the 1930s led to the commercial production of blackcurrant juice, later this was marketed as Ribena.
This year it’s on Sunday 7th October 2018 2pm-5pm at the Community Centre. There will be apple pressing, café, live music, demonstrations, children’s activities and much more. The theme will be recycling plastics, so please bring along empty plastic bottles, plastic bottle tops and anything else we can use to be creative.
If you want more information or get involved, please contact Sam or Al either by email on [email protected] or go to our FaceBook page AppleDayLA.
